About This Course

Poll workers can be difficult to recruit and there's so much to teach them in the short window of training before each election. But, if you can identify and retain good poll workers who have the benefit of their prior experience at the polls, you can reduce the need for new recruits and build expertise over multiple election cycles. This course offers some tested tactics for improving retention used by a variety of election offices and principles for designing your own retention strategy.

Assessing & Retaining Experienced Poll Workers is part of a four-course series on leading a successful poll worker program. In this course, you will learn how to:

  • Assess your poll workers aptitudes, performance, and experiences at their voting location
  • Build relationships and systems that encourage poll workers to come back
  • Use post-election debriefs and surveys with your poll workers

Who is this course designed for?
